How to make a pilot call using your desktop Skype?

  1. Log in to your Skype account.
  2. Make sure you’ve already connected your microphone or speaker to your PC. Then double-check whether your equipment is successfully connected and is working properly.
  3. Choose the Settings option, which has a form of a button with three dots, located in the right corner of your main panel and click Settings.

  4. Here you will be also able to adjust the sensitiveness of your equipment.

  5. Press Contacts button and scroll down to find a contact named Echo/Sound Test Service.

  6. Click Echo contact to open a conversation window. Then click a Call button at the upper-right corner of the panel.

  7. After that, you will need to follow the instructions of Echo program. As a rule, you will need to leave a message after the special signal. It usually takes no longer than just a few moments.

If you don’t hear the program’s instructions, you are likely to have some problems with your headphones. In case you fail to hear the playback of your message, you might be having issues with your microphone. This way, double-check your equipment and make a pilot call one more time.
  1. To finish the call, click on the red button or it will be closed automatically after you’ve performed the echo trial call.

Note: the test is completely the same if you are using the camera of your laptop. This way, you will be able to adjust only camera settings and are not required to have a microphone or speaker.
