Telegram is surely one of the most widely used messengers in dozens of countries. The application offers countless opportunities for calling, texting and sending files with no additional charges. Furthermore, the app’s users can also benefit from sharing bright and lovely stickers, emojis and GIF smiles available right at hand.

You can also make your messenger's presence more unique by adding your own particular Telegram username. It is a public name that can be used by your friends and fellows for finding you in the global app’s database. In other words, it’s just an account link to your personal profile.

Note: people who will found you by your username will be able to write you messages (regardless their presence in your contact list) However, they will not be able to see your phone number.

Note: Using a special username is not obligatory — it is just one of the additional features offered by the program. Therefore, there is no need to set it up in your profile (leave it empty in case you would like to stay unavailable in the global search).

How to set up your Telegram ID?

  1. Open your messenger and choose Settings.

  2. Tap Edit profile.

  3. Press Add username option.

  4. Make sure to provide a unique name. Otherwise, you will not be able to start using it.

  5. Make sure your app name is meeting the requirements of Telegram and choose Save.

Now you’ve successfully set up your unique Telegram user ID. It becomes available in your profile immediately. You can edit or delete it anytime by choosing the pencil icon.

If you would like to get your contact’s chat ID, just tap the needed person and find the required information in his or her profile.
